Japanese incense is very soft, suitable for use at night or in the bedroom.
 
The use of incense is considered to be an expression of sensitivity and refinement of everyday life, whether to perfume a home, welcome a guest, or create a certain atmosphere. 
 
The different ingredients, wood powder, plants, spices and essential oils are made into a mixture with Tabou wood powder and water. The paste thus formed is pressed into a chain. The sticks are cut, dried and packaged. Much of the incense making is still done by hand in Óle d'Awaji, off Kobe, where the climate is particularly favorable for its production:
